Work experience

1999 - 2006 - Served as Senior Specialist and later as Head of the Foreign Investments Department at the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).

2006 - 2009 - Assistant to the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Coordinator of the EU–Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Cooperation Committee and the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy, and Ecology

Since 2009, he has served as the Head of the Department for Coordination of Foreign Investments and Aid at the Ministry of Economic Development, and since 2011, as the Head of the Department for Cooperation with International Organizations.

2009 - 2014 - Chairman of the Supervisory Board of “Tamiz Shahar” OJSC; Co-chair of the EU–Azerbaijan Subcommittee on Trade and Economy; Head of the Program Management Unit for EU Aid Instruments; and a Member of the Board of Directors of “SOCAR Turkey Aegean Refining” (STAR Project).

2014 - Appointed Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Presidential Decree dated March 13, 2014

2016 - Appointed Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Presidential Decree dated January 30, 2016

Among other responsibilities, he oversaw foreign economic policy matters and trade missions, curated the “Azpromo” Export and Investment Promotion Foundation and the Coordinating Council on Transit Freight, served as the representative of the Ministry of Economy for the “Southern Gas Corridor” project, chaired the Supervisory Board of “Azergold” CJSC, and served as a member of the Supervisory Board of the International Bank of Azerbaijan OJSC and as a member of the Board of Directors of “SOCAR Turkey Aegean Refining” (STAR Project).

2018 - Appointed Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Presidential Decree dated April 21, 2018

2025 - Appointed Minister of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Presidential Decree dated February 6, 2025

Served as Co-chair of Intergovernmental Commissions with Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Argentina, and Brazil; Co-chair of the Azerbaijan–Iran Working Group on financing the Rasht–Astara segment of the North–South Transport Corridor; and Member of Intergovernmental Commissions with 19 other countries.

Currently chairs the Intergovernmental Commissions with Hungary, Serbia, Romania, and Montenegro.
