The State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) is a sovereign wealth fund established in 1999 to manage and safeguard Azerbaijan's oil and gas revenues for the benefit of current and future generations. SOFAZ plays a crucial role in preserving national wealth, ensuring intergenerational equity, and promoting sustainable economic development. SOFAZ oversees a diversified investment portfolio, including international equities, fixed income securities, real estate, and other financial instruments. Fixed Income Trader role at SOFAZ offers an opportunity to shape the fund's investment strategy and portfolio management. Responsibilities include analyzing investment proposals, conducting due diligence, executing trades and monitoring portfolio performance to support SOFAZ's mission of managing Azerbaijan's sovereign wealth sustainably. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is crucial for preparing Investment Committee presentations and sharing insights on market trends and investment opportunities.

Ideal candidates should have strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial modeling, and a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related fields. Fluency in Azerbaijani and English is required. Prior experience in investment roles is preferred, but we also welcome proactive leaners passionate about financial markets and sustainability.

What You Will Do?:

• Prepare and present proposals to the management regarding tactical changes on fixed income and money markets sub-portfolio within the Investment policy, in conjunction with the trends in capital markets;
• Execute trades of fixed income and money market securities within the given risk limits;
• Ensure the allocation of the currency composition of the investment portfolio in accordance with the proportions determined by the Investment policy;
• Conduct research and prepare reports, presentations, and other analytical materials upon the requests of a direct supervisor and the Fund's management;
• Conduct research about potential counterparties for the Fund.

What You Will Need?:

• University degree with strong academic records (Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics, Math, or a similar quantitative field);
• High level of quantitative and analytical ability;
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, & PowerPoint;
• Fluency in Azerbaijani and English;

Who Are We Looking For?:

We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and strong background and aptitude in Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science. Experience with some combination of Python, R, and SQL and in buy-side trading is preferred; program trading experience with other asset classes is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic team environment are key.
