The State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) is a sovereign wealth fund established in 1999 to manage and safeguard Azerbaijan's oil and gas revenues for the benefit of current and future generations. SOFAZ plays a crucial role in preserving national wealth, ensuring intergenerational equity, and promoting sustainable economic development. SOFAZ oversees a diversified investment portfolio, including international equities, fixed income securities, real estate, and other financial instruments. The Specialist for the Settlements Department role at SOFAZ offers an opportunity to work in a professional environment that ensures continuous career development and learning opportunities. Responsibilities include verification of financial transactions, preparation of detailed reports, and maintenance of investment accounting. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is crucial for optimizing financial operations and supporting decision-making processes.

Ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills, proficiency in MS Excel, and a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economics. Fluency in Azerbaijani and English is required. Prior experience in financial operations is preferred, but we also welcome recent graduates (with strong academic records) holding degrees in finance, accounting, or economics who are prepared to embark on their career journey with SOFAZ.


What You Will Do?:

  • Engage in the verification, settlement of trades, reconciliation of holdings and cash, recordkeeping of investment activities;
  • Prepare detailed and insightful reports;
  • Handle investment accounting tasks, including the daily entry and updating of investment asset management information;
  • Utilize a range of internal systems to optimize financial operations;
  • Process data from various interfaces ensuring accuracy and efficiency;
  • Provide statistical data on brokers, banks, receivables, and defaults to support decision-making;
  • Perform calculations for invoices related to custody and management;
  • Document the process of opening new accounts, ensuring compliance and accuracy.


What You Will Need?:

  • University degree with strong academic records (Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics, Math, or a similar quantitative field);
  • Fluency in English is a must;
  • Additional qualifications in finance or accounting will be viewed as a valuable asset;
  • Candidates must possess high proficiency in MS Excel. A thorough understanding of financial processes is essential. While experience with BNYM and/or Bloomberg is preferred, it is not mandatory;
  • Familiarity with SWIFT will be considered beneficial;
